KHCA Provides Aid to Displaced Families in Joplin

On Friday, June 10, the Kansas Health Care Association will be delivering supplies to the National HealthCare Corporation in Joplin, MO, which also has facilities in Kansas.

“Three of Joplin’s nursing homes were destroyed by the tornado, and countless nursing home staff and their families are displaced. While they are picking up the pieces of their lives, they remain committed to caring for their residents. We just want to show our support and do what we can to help them,” said Cindy Luxem, KHCA President/CEO.

KHCA coordinated this effort with the Kansas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging and numerous private individuals from across Kansas. Breathe Oxygen and Medical Supply will be donating the truck to transport the thousands of care packages to Joplin.

“We are so grateful to all of the people who donated their time and money to provide care packages to the remaining nursing homes, staff, and families affected by the devastating tornado,” said Cindy. “The outpouring of support has been overwhelming.”

KHCA staff will be loading the supplies onto the truck on Thursday, June 9. Contact the office at (785) 267-6003 for more information.
