DCF/LTC Collaboration Meeting @ DCF Learning Center Room A

You are invited to attend a collaboration meeting and round table discussion between DCF Economic and Employment Services, Adult Protection Services, KDADS, ADRC, KanCare MCOs, KDHE, PACE, and Long Term Care providersserving Brown, Doniphan, Jackson, Jefferson, Marshall, Nemaha, Osage, Pottawatomie, Shawnee, and Wabaunsee Counties.

The focus of this meeting will be representatives from each of the 3 MCOs offering information on Long Term Care, HCBS, Assisted Living, Hospice, and the stipulations of pre authorizations. 

We are looking forward to seeing many of you at the meeting.

Please RSVP to Ruth Santner at ruth.santner@dcf.ks.gov by July 17 so we can have time to print out any handouts used by the presenters and to get the room arranged to fit the number of persons attending.

MDS For Administrators @ KHCA/KCAL Education Center

Successfully managing the MDS within your facility is key to proper documentation and improved revenues.  Failure to understand and monitor the process can have a detrimental outcome, including inaccurate and incorrectly timed assessments.  This is a must attend course for experiences and new administrators and key managers to streamline the MDS management within nursing centers.

MDS Refresher Course @ KHCA/KCAL Education Center

Successfully managing the MDS within your facility is key to proper documentation.  This six hour refresher course will remind you “Why we do it”, “Who does it, and “What do we get paid”. Failure to understand and monitor the process can have a detrimental outcome, including inaccurate and incorrectly timed assessments.  This must attend refresher course taught by Becky LaBarge, RN, RAC-MT is for all staff involved in the MDS process.

CMA Update Course @ KHCA/KCAL Office

Critical Thinking and Intro To Physical Assessment- Topeka @ KHCA/KCAL Office

Who is this program best for?

In this class, participants will learn to recognize deviations from normal findings and to take appropriate action. It is expected that the LPN will be able to determine appropriate actions to implement care that are within his/her scope of practice and to report findings to other health care providers.

At the conclusion of this class, attendees will have knowledge of the basics of physical assessment and will be able to gather enough preliminary assessment information to know when the data obtained deviates from normal assessments findings.

The LPN assessor will understand when to refer the client/resident for additional assessment to a registered nurse or a physician. The LPN will understand the importance of documenting accurate information, gathering the complete data and articulating the findings to the resident/client’s health care provider.
