Falls Management Across the Continuum: Prevention, Post-Fall Response, & QAPI Integration
By the end of this program, participants will be able to:
- Explain neurological and psychological changes associated with aging that increase fall risk.
- Identify medication and comorbidity-related contributors to falls.
- Implement evidence-based and non-pharmacological interventions.
- Reduce unnecessary hospital readmissions following falls.
- Conduct effective post-fall reviews and Root Cause Analyses.
- Align falls prevention and response programs with QAPI and regulatory expectations.
PART 4: Moderated Panel Discussion – Perspectives from the Field: The program concludes with a moderated panel featuring perspectives from a Skilled Nursing Facility provider, an Assisted Living provider, SNF surveyor, and a State-Licensed Only surveyor. The panel discussion will focus on falls prevention expectations from regulatory and provider perspectives, documentation and system process expectations, managing high-risk residents, avoiding unnecessary readmissions, case studies and real-world scenarios, and practical lessons learned. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, explore gray areas, and gain clarity on compliance expectations and quality improvement strategies.
Continuing Education
This educational event has been approved for up to 6.5 continuing education hours in the core of Administration for Licensed Adult Care Home Administrators, Adult Care Home Operators and Dietitians by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services. Health Occupations and Credentialing approved provider number (LTS A0009).
LeadingAge Kansas is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for 6.5 contact hours applicable for APRN, RN, LPN relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing provider number: LT0102-1116.
All other disciplines will receive a certification of attendance.
