Registered Adult Care Home Operator Course – Hybrid Format

This hybrid course is designed to fully prepare you to earn your Registration as an Adult Care Home Operator in the state of Kansas. Based on the principles of assisted living as outlined in the KDADS regulation manual, the course is taught by experienced professionals currently working in the field.
The course is co-facilitated by Joan Hudson, KCAL Clinical Consultant, and Polly Berkley, VP of Operations and Education for KHCA/KCAL. It provides essential knowledge on the rules, regulations, and responsibilities required to operate a state-licensed adult care home in Kansas.

A printed Operator’s Manual mailed to the address provided at registration
Note: The KDADS registration fee is not included in the course fee. This pro-rated fee will not exceed $65.
Course Requirements:

Daily 9:00–10:00 AM live virtual meetings via Microsoft Teams

Attendance at these sessions is mandatory. Missing them will disqualify you from sitting for the final exam.

A computer with reliable internet, along with audio and video capability

A functioning camera is required for daily participation

A valid and regularly-checked email address
While many sessions will be recorded and available on demand, active daily participation is critical. To get the most from the live class meetings, it is highly recommended that recorded sessions be completed by the end of each day.
Expect to dedicate approximately 8 hours per day to course content.

Competency tests will follow educational modules and are required for course completion. Instructors will be available to answer questions during the course timeframe: Â February 10-24, 2026.

Operators:  This course is approved for forty-five (45) continuing education credit hours for adult care home operators who attend the entire course. Operators will be granted thirty (30) hours in the core area of Administration and fifteen (15) hours in the core area of Resident Care by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services. KDADs Health Occupations Credentialing Approved Sponsorship Number: LTS-A0002
Nurses:  The Kansas Health Care Association is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for forty-five (45) contact hours applicable for RN and LPN relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing Approved Provider Number: LT0030-0338.
Social Workers: Kansas Health Care Association is an approved provider through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board of continuing education for social workers. KSBSRB Approval 17-006. This course is approved for 45 continuing education hours.
