The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has an initiative, called The Civil Money Penalty Reinvestment Program (CMPRP) (https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Provider-Enrollment-and-Certification/SurveyCertificationGenInfo/LTC-CMP-Reinvestment.html), to assist nursing home teams in quality improvement efforts. The CMPRP is primarily focused on improving dementia care, reducing adverse events and improving staffing quality in nursing homes throughout the U.S.
To successfully achieve these goals, the CMPRP has engaged nursing homes in several ways, including through a series of toolkits.
Three toolkits are available at https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Provider-Enrollment-and-Certification/SurveyCertificationGenInfo/LTC-CMP-Reinvestment.html. These toolkits were announced in, QSO-20-03-NH: Updates and Initiatives to Ensure Safety and Quality in Nursing Homes.
Save the documents to your desktop in order to use all functions of the documents, and make sure you have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat, download it for free on the Adobe website (https://get.adobe.com/reader).
The CMPRP tools and resources are not mandatory and using these tools does not guarantee compliance with Medicare and Medicaid participation requirements. The use of the tools is meant to assist facilities in building on a culture of quality.
We are interested to know what you think about the toolkits and how we can best support your efforts to provide the best care possible to your residents. If you have questions or feedback on the CMPRP or the Toolkits, please email CMP-info@cms.hhs.gov.
Thank you,
CMPRP team
